Cravings can be a nightmare.
You might want that piece of chocolate cake or gooey flapjack and then you can’t stop thinking about it.
You finally give in and cram it all into your mouth, enjoying that one moment of sublime loveliness.
But after, you want more and your body is craving that sugar rush again- some of you will give in and eat a second, third..
But what is going on here?
One reason might be that you’re using food to cope with stress.
To stop or reduce these cravings do something else.
The most positive way (from a recent study in Plymouth, UK) is to get outdoors and go for a walk.
Honestly.
The research also found that having green areas or greenery near the home had a really positive effect on mood, and yes reduced cravings.
Being able to see trees in your back garden or from your window can really make a difference.
No garden? No problem.
Add more green in your surroundings;
- Get more house plants
- Go for a daily 10 minute walk (great for moving more as well)
- Position your desk near a window and take 30 second breaks occasionally.
- Start a garden
