For many of us – Peri menopausal symptoms, start us thinking about ‘what is going on ?’

It’s often the time when the Menopause beast is the most active.

And you might well be roaring like a lion one minute and in tears the next.

It’s the 2- 10 years before we hit menopause

And it’s not some sort of weird disease – it’s a normal, natural process.

It might not last long for you, or you might be shouting ‘when is this going to end.’

It will end though and you can breath a sigh of relief when you get through it.

Peri menopausal symptoms

Most ladies know about the hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings,being tearful, broken sleep and a sudden tummy, that defo wasn’t there before.

Other stuff that can come with it, is being forgetful (especially words) and no you’re not going crazy, bladder problems, sex being painful, not wanting sex as well,sore boobs, heavy period bleeding, feeling anxious, horrible headaches, facial hair & period like symptoms.

Here’s some other peri menopausal symptoms that might be affecting you.

Just because this is what can happen , doesn’t mean that it will for you.

What can you do for peri menopausal symptoms ?

At the moment I’m in the process of taming my night sweats and hot flushes.

I’ve had enough and am determined to get rid of them (naturally if I can).

Now this may make you feel downright depressed –  but don’t be.

Knowing what can happen is half the battle..

The other half is doing something about it.

Taking action for Peri menopausal symptoms

One easy thing that you can do today is to start noticing what’s happening to YOU.

Jot down on a notepad which Peri menopausal symptoms you are feeling and when – try it for the next month.

This helps to see exactly what’s going on – if there’s patterns and /or triggers.

What’s happening to your periods?

When are you raging like a bull, or as meek as a mouse?

Do different foods affect you? Common ones are spicy foods, caffeine & alcohol.

Do you have good and bad days? What do you do on these days and is there a difference?

Are you exercising to help your Peri menopausal symptoms – this can help & make you feel better

If you speak to your doctor,  or health professional , this will help loads, as  you will go armed with all that’s been happening to you.

Alot of what’s going on can be blamed on your pesky hormones.

It’s soaring and crashing hormones that can cause the peri menopause symptoms & changes – estrogen is on what could be called a roller coaster ride & progesterone is making a quiet exit as well.

These two hormones normally work in harmony together, in regulating your period cycle and it’s the fluctuations that can be a nightmare for us.

The good news is that you can do something about it – so let’s take action sisters.

Know what’s out there that can help you

See your doctor and talk about what’s happening – they may want to run some tests as thyroid issues can have the same Peri menopausal symptoms.

Did you know that hormone fluctuations can be made worse by stress, weight gain and a poor diet ?

And we don’t want them worse – we want them better.

Look at your lifestyle and eating habits – here’s some great tips & exercises

Most of us are rushing around like headless chickens in our forties, with some sort of family commitments, we have careers or demanding jobs, our stress levels are high , whilst our hormones are all over the place, making it even harder to deal with everything.

Now is the time to slow down a bit.

Together with eating more healthily, exercising, drinking less alcohol and having some ‘me’ time.
