The simple answer is Yes absolutely, as well as lots of added other benefits.
Working from home is great if you have that option BUT…
How many of us hunch over our desks when sitting, slouch when we walk or stand and /or spend a lot of time on our devices , without much movement ? And these are just a few examples of poor posture !
Poor posture often means that we are more likely to suffer from aches & pains, as unnecessary stress or strain is placed on joints & ligaments, although of course this varies from person to person.
So how can Pilates help?
It helps us develop strength & stability in our postural muscles, which in turn helps us to think more about our posture & alignment, so we develop good habits.
It improves movement, as well as the range of movement, improves balance & body alignment.
It improves circulation.
Pilates strengthens & develops our ‘powerhouse’, which is our abdominals , back, muscles around the hips, glutes & pelvic floor, making our posture better & allowing the shoulders to relax, the neck and head to move more freely & helping to relieve stress on our hips, legs & feet.
To see & feel the benefits of Pilates you need to be consistent, so attending class at least once a week.
Many of my regular class members have had friends & family comment on how they’re standing better, they look different in a good way and that their posture has improved.
I think if most of us were honest, everyone could benefit from thinking about their posture more & improving it.
