We need protein for most of our bodily functions.

It is a superstar.

And if you want to increase your lean muscle, lose fat and transform your shape.

Whilst hanging onto the muscle you have.

Then eating the right amount is a MUST.

The simple fact is most women just don’t eat enough.

Now I could get all scientific here with grammes you need each day & how to work it out blah blah blah.

But I’m not going to.

You need to aim for 1 -2 palm size amounts at each meal (one palm size is roughly about 75gms in weight)

Think quality as well – a chicken breast is a much better option than deli processed meats.

And recommended daily allowances or guidelines that you often see, are only those needed to survive not thrive.

And ladies we want to thrive.

How can protein help you lose fat ?

  1. Eating more protein keeps you fuller for longer. This means that you tend to eat less and don’t feel hungry.
  2. Your body has to work harder to digest protein, as it takes more energy, so burns more calories in doing so.
  3. Protein helps you lose fat (when you’re in a calorie deficit – you’re eating less than your body is burning), your body will get rid of fat & keep your muscle IF you eat enough protein.

Other benefits;

Research shows that  eating higher levels of protein can help in the fight against osteoporosis, diabetes & heart disease.

Protein also plays an important role in immunity, balancing our hormones, sleep and digestion.

If you’re struggling with eating enough;

An easy way is  to make a protein shake.

Alot of the ladies I coach often find this really useful.

And making your own is so easy and it tastes delicious.

And no ,taking a sip will not transform you into some rippling, muscle laden, olympic shot putter!

Nothing could be further from the truth.

It takes consistency in eating healthily and doing the right exercises (resistance training), to build that lean muscle that will transform your shape.

How do I know? Because I’ve transformed my shape doing just that.

And I’ve gone onto help loads of other ladies (all ages, shapes & sizes) to do it too.

And YES I do have protein shakes- I make my own with frozen fruit and skimmed milk and they are super yummy.

I feel bursting with health after having one.

The BIG BONUS is that they fill you up as well.

I will often have one after I train, or have one mid afternoon, this really keeps the hunger pangs at bay and stops me snacking at tea time before eating dinner..

Check out my protein shake recipe, it’s a winner and it’s great for your skin as well
